This software cannot be installed on this computer

Today I've just bought my first iMac and decided to reinstall MacOS. I’ve inserted the original disk that came with the computer and it started to install but displayed an alert “this software cannot be installed on this computer” just after I selected the language.

Ok, I thought, probably it doesn’t like that MacOS is already installed, so I formatted the HDD.

But the problem remains!

Now this is my first experience with Mac and it is very frustrating! I don't have OS and I can't install it! How come the original, official disks that were in the package cannot install the operating system?!! Such thing NEVER happened with Windows...

So, this was a “nice” welcome from Apple...

Any ideas how to fix it?

nobody needs you with your tiny little share of the market...

Nobody needs me?

Now you are getting personal.

That's not me. I'm just an end user of both PCs and Macs. And I can tell you, that you are missing out great time on what the Mac can offer for you. Also Apple's sales have gone through the roof the past two years after introducing the Intel chips.

I'm sorry, but don't come in here and blame us if you don't take the fact that you were hoodwinked by a seller of Macs into buying a Mac that didn't come as a full package, and let it slide. We are telling you that is exactly what happened. And if you don't take steps to rectify the issue, others will get hoodwinked too until someone catches them in the act. The seller needs to be caught, and tested for their true customer service value.
