Weird Screen/graphics glitch after update

Do you have Space enable ?
After disabling Spaces on mine, it went away.

Disabled it and still there. Really annoying.

I have the same problem with one of the new macbook pros. Every time I restart my machine the problem leaves for an extended period of time, but if I start using the trackpad to scroll with two fingers through safari, it always comes back pretty quick. When the glitching has started, if I avoid scrolling with two fingers and just use the scroll bar, I don't see the glitches. Playing back youtube movies does the same thing for me, white flashes.

Hopefully there's a fix soon.

I had this exact problem in Safari, Firefox, Mail, and even iTunes. I tried everything, from resetting the PRAM and SMC to adjusting the tracking speed of my touchpad. Nothing helped, and every time I scrolled in the above applications, either with a two-finger scroll or with the scrollbar, the graphics within the application window "smeared."

But I finally think I found a simple solution! I just went into the Displays section of System Preferences and set my screen resolution from 1440 x 900 with millions of colors to 1024 x 768 with thousands of colors. I opened a few applications, noticed everything looked good, then set the resolution and colors back to 1440 x 900 and millions. Now the problem seems to be gone completely. Before I would have trouble every few minutes, but it's been over 24 hours without a glitch.

It's a simple solution that may not work for everyone, but give it a shot. Good luck!

By the way, if it turns out the problem returns, I'll post a follow-up. Otherwise it's working!

Bummer. But I should say my screen is still working normally. Any others try this?

So, I've narrowed this down. The graphics issue with text only happens when using the trackpad to scroll, and not when using the down arrows. The flash issue where it's all blocky only happens when the system is running from battery. Not sure what this means, but maybe someone out there might have an idea.

So I found an odd fix. I read in another post that the glitches don't happen when the MB is plugged in. I tried it and no glitches whatsoever when plugged in but when I unplug and run on batteries, I see the video glitches. Any clue why that would be?

I'm having this issue too... Safari, Finder, iTunes Store... all does a weird jumbling thing with scrolling. I've noticed that restarting the computer fixes it for a while, but eventually it comes back.

I should add that the "fix" i described above only helps when the laptop is plugged in. When running on battery power, the problem comes back almost immediately.

I have this problem, as soon as I run on battery power the display glitches in safari and mail!.

Has anyone downloaded and begun using Safari 3.1, released today?

It seems I no longer have any graphics problems in Safari, Mail, or iTunes whether my laptop is plugged in or not.

I'll continue to test Safari 3.1 and see if it really helps.
