You could take it apart, remove the battery and screen and rinse it out in distilled or de-ionized water.

I know, how did I manage to drop my ipod into the ocean? Wel, I was running on the beach, and a wave came out of nowhere and took away my ipod. It continued playing even underwater, but I removed it from the water as soon as I could. Now, it doesn't work at all and won't turn on. Is there any hope?

Very, very doubtful, especially with salt water.
