Mail will not show images in e-mails

For some reason, after having my Comcast internet re-connected recently, I can no longer see images embedded in e-mails. They don't show in the preview pane or when the e-mail is double-clicked. It's very strange.

I tried deleting the preference file and all the other tricks, but nothing seems to work. I also haven't been able to find any answers to this online, so it seems to be a very strange problem.

Any/all help would be greatly appreciated. I guess my next step would be to create a new user and see if that works.

Thanks in advance.

I got it!

I ran a search on Apple Discussions for an issue I was also having with Safari not connecting to any pages and it turns out it was a Proxies setting in System Preferences. For some reason there were several Proxies selected when there normally should be none.

I unchecked them and Safari works, all e-mail clients work and everything is back to normal.

Should have checked that long ago, but at least it's fixed.

Thanks very much for all the help. I appreciate it.

Port 587 is only used as an Outgoing server. Port 995 is a port used as Incoming server, with SSL, which apparently you are doing? Port 110 is the standard port for incoming POP3 servers, which I had assumed you were using with Comcast, but did not consider the use of SSL

Good job finding the solution. Don't know why that got changed for you, as I have not seen it reported.
