I think it does use the same system. We have two iPhone 5's that work with both our vehicles, the C300 does not have Command but the GLK does.

If you haven't done this yet, give the following a chance:

1. Go into Command on your car and delete the iPhone.

2. Go into the iPhone, settings, Bluetooth, select MB Connection by tapping in the blue arrow, tap on 'Forget this Device'.

3. Go back into Command on your car and pair the iPhone again making sure the pairing code is at least 6 digits. I read somewhere that you need at least six digits in the code for proper connection. Our C300 you need to enter a code manually, the GLK generates one for you automatically.

Let me know if that helps if you had not tried that already. :)

Mikinos,

If you have a Mac, create a new Group in the Contacts app by selecting File, New Group. Then select View, Groups and click on All Contacts. Drag each of the names you want to sync with your Merc to this new group. If you have a Windows PC and you use MS-Exchange, you should be able to do pretty much the same thing by creating a Category and adding this to each contact you want to sync, but it will take a lot more work to edit all your contacts. If you use a different system, you should still be able to categorize your contacts or create groups and these should show- when you sync your iPhone.

Sync your iPhone. It will do this automatically if you are using iCloud. Just give it a few minutes. Open the Contacts app on the iPhone, touch Groups on the left-hand side. Touch each of the other groups to deselect them leaving only the group you created. Touch Done and then you will only see the contacts that you want to sync.

Delete the entire contact list on your Merc then sync again. Please post another message here to let us know if this works for you.

I hope this helps,

Jorge

Have a "new" 2009 C300 and couldn't get contacts in to car's phone directory via either bluetooth or pigtail from iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1. Used the method described here using MacBook and Authorize External and couldn't make it work using 11111 or any other code until I tried MBUSA (62872). Paired immediately and transferred vCards exported from Contacts app. Now car has all the names and numbers! Slick!

Overall, I think the Mercedes setup is a bit archaic compared to other hands free systems I have used. For example, my previous 04' TL worked very well. Even my son's 08 Mini seems more seamless than the Mercedes.

I've quickly learned to appreciate past User Interfaces... not that I don't love the Mercedes handling and driving but I never expected this would be its Achilles heel.

Guys, have a GLK350 it it does not have Bluetooth to at music (only to answer phones).

Have a. iPhone 4 jack (30 pin) in the car so de used to buy the new adapter (8 pin) but car does not play the music on my IPhone 5....would anyone know if IPhone software does not work with Mercedes 2010...? Or maybe I've got a bad adapter...?

Hi, it probably will work if you have it plugged in right. The old 30 pin connector can only connect one way to the iPhone 4. The new adapters can used either way on the 5. If are using the small adaptor to convert between the two connectos.make sure they are connected properly, meaning there should be lines on one side of the new adaptor that need to match the same lines on the original connector. Then ensure you plug it into the iPhone 5 with the lines facing the front of the phone.

You probably have Blutooth streaming on your audio 20 like I do on my 2010 C300 but the sound is poor and then you cannot answer the phone through the car. My 2013 GLK works much better for this.

Keep using your hard connection.

I bought a 6th generation Nano to plug in all the time and listen to my music that way.

Hope that helps.

I found the same thing, using 62872 as the code to pair the Macbook to the car worked. After that it was easy. I put the car in import vcard mode, from my custom contact list 'group', I exported the vcf file to my desktop, then I went to the Bluetooth menu and choose send a file, picked the file from my desktop and it smoothly sent all 18 contacts to my car. I did find that to have the contacts come out correctly that I had to have the phones as 'moblie' instead of a custom label like iPhone. I note that it only lists two numbers per contact that you can select on the Audio 20 phone list. Hope that helps.

Have just spoken to a very helpful Mercedes engineer. Firstly Mercedes are at the moment only up to the iPhone 4S in speccing their software to meet Apples. They are aware of, and working on software update to accommodate the iPhone 5. No time yet for delivery of the update.

Suggest that as an emergency measure that the business cards are transferred singlely as necessary rather than a whole group at one go.(Have to go and try this out now.

My mix is iPhone 5 and a UK MB B Class Sport. All my androids phones lock fine, disappointing about the MB.

I know this suggestion will not fit well with businesses with large lists, but here one has to be selective in the interim.
