Sony dcr-trv7e compatible?

I can't tell you for certain, but it does work with many (most?) other older Sony miniDV camcorders (TRV 900, 950, 14, etc..)

That is working as designed. Once your import is finished, you should be able to hear the audio.
iMovie does not play sound while importing, because it supports new high def formats that do not import in real time, and thus, the sound on import is not helpful.

Sorry, but I have a Sony DCR-TRV950 camcorder, and when I connect to my brand new MBP through Firewire, with iMovie open, NOTHING happens. When I bring up the import menu, it doesn't even see it as a camera. It doesn't matter if it's VCR or Camera mode. At the same time, my Windows PC can see t just fine, and I can download the videos recorded with it into Windows Movie Maker. It's so frustrating to see Windows do a better job here than Apple.

Oops, I need to retract my last post to this thread. After rebooting my MBP, iMovie '08 recognized the camera. Very odd, and not sure why I needed to reboot it, but at least it managed to see it at last. Downloading video from it right now.

I just bought a Sony HD-HC9 and with an iLink or firewire that looks too small for my G5. Tried to use my own firewire but cannot connect to iMovie6. Do I need an Intel based (new) harddrive??
