How can I synchronize Palm Zire 72 and my new iPhone?

I was wondering whether anyone can help me - I just bought an iPhone, and NEED to synchronise my contacts and calender from my Palm Zire 72. I'm using Windows Vista and Palm Desktop. I would really appreciate any (detailed) help I can get on this!

With Vista, an iPhone supports syncing contact information with Windows Contacts, Outlook 2003, or Outlook 2007 and calendar events with Outlook 2003 or 2007.

You need to sync the Palm Desktop or your Palm with one of these supported applications.

This is possible with a Mac so I assume the same is or should be possible with a Windows PC. I can't give you detailed instructions, but maybe someone with a Windows PC running Vista who has done this will be able to provide you some detailed instructions.

Yes you can do this. With Palm you can opt to sync your contacts and calendar with Outlook instead of Palm Desktop. You may need to run the installation disk again. Once you have them in Outlook you can sync them to iPhone via iTunes. Obviously this all assumes you've got Outlook......

There are several ways. If you have the CD that came with the Palm just rerun the installer. When it asks if you want to sync to Palm Desktop or Outlook choose Outlook. The Palm conduit is not that good, however. The better solution is Pocket Mirror from Chapura.com or switchsync from http://www.livepim.com/switchsync/ if you want to continue to sync with both.
