Wake From Sleep ... Password Twice

I've done some searching around here and haven't come up with anything that seems familiar to my issue. So I thought I'd throw a new topic out there.

I have my Macbook set to ask for a password when it wakes from sleep. Three-quarters of the time when I type in the password and hit enter, I see the desktop for half a second and then am immediately sent back to the password dialogue box to put my password in again. It always lets me in after the second password entry.

Notes about the Leopard installation: I did an archive and install with the Leopard update dvd, which I got for $10 because it was released so soon after buying. Could the need for a second password have something to do with some sort of remnant of Panther? Probably not but I thought I'd ask.

It's not a huge issue but I think about it every time I have to type it in twice.

Thanks, in advance, for any thoughts or advice.

I have this problem as well - it seems to be reliably reproduced whenever I close the lid (suspend) while I have my BT mouse registered, then turn off the mouse (close the bottom switch) while still suspended. One post commented that they could very briefly see the desktop flash between credential prompts; I also see this, usually just long enough (we're talking milliseconds here..) to see the mouse disconnection warning flash... Can anyone else reliably reproduce like this? If I shut my mouse off before suspending, or leave the mouse on when I wake the laptop up, I don't ever seem to get the double-prompt.

I have seen this problem on a MacBook Air. A further complication, sometimes the password dialog does not reappear after the first password dialog and just get a black screen is presented. In these cases sleeping the MacBook and waking it again usually brings up the dialog again. But sometimes a forced restart is necessary.

It would be helpful if Apple were to acknowledge if this is a known issue with Mac OS X as the other possibility that comes to mind is that these systems are infected with a password gathering malware.
