Desktop: Long delays moving/deleting files

Hey guys, I recently bought a Mac Pro and I'm using Mac OSX Leopard.

I've noticed lately that any files or folders I have on my desktop suffer very long delays every time I try to move them, be it transfer them into a folder inside my computer (like Pictures), or move them to the trash. I won't notice any response, and occasionally may try the keystroke multiple times. Only after about 6 or 7 seconds, does the file actually move.

Q - Does this happen all over the computer?
A - Negative. Only on the desktop.

Q - do you have a lot of stacks in your dock with multiple items in them?
A - I used to but I completely reset my dock. Slowdown persists.

Q - Have you tried a scan of your computer.
A - Yes.

Q - Have you tried reinstalling your operating system.
A - Yes. Last night I did a complete erase and install. I restored from my Time Machine drive. Problem persists.

Q - Have you tried a different user account?
A - YES. The problem DOES NOT EXIST on a new user account!

Any ideas what I can do to solve this?

Dual 2.8 Mac Pro (2008), Mac OS X (10.5.2), 4 gigs ram, 512 graphics card.
