A1061 vs. A1062

I have to get my wife a new battery. She has the original A1062 installed. Most web search results for "iBook battery" come back for the A1061. Is there a difference between the two batteries?

Does anyone have recommendations as to which non-Apple battery to buy? Is $75 from Amazon really that good of a deal? Or will I get what I pay for?

Thanks

The A1061 originally shipped with the 12" iBooks (both G3 and G4 AFAIK). The A1062 shipped with the 14" models.

The A1062 is a 14.4V model, while the A1061 is a 10.8V model. Based on the ratio of 14.4 to 10.8, it's likely the A1062 is a 4-cell battery while the A1061 is a 3-cell.

In a nutshell: the A1062 will, at least when it's new, give longer battery run-time than the A1061.

If you have a 12" iBook, or are looking to buy a used battery, or are unwilling to pay the $15-$25 price premium for the A1062, then just get an A1061.

Best,
Matt
