I'm sick of these overload messages! Is there ANY fix in sight? (Part 2)

I have 4 tracks going (which is nothing), my cpu meter is barely moving, and I RARELY got this message in Logic 7.
I've trashed my preferences, and read this forum over and over and tried everything I can, and I cannot get this problem to go away.

Is there ANYTHING that can be done and will Apple fix this??"

Changing the safety buffer size (256) helped for me.

I still get overloads, just not as frequent.

Submitted bug report with Apple via ADC (several months ago). So far no confirmed fix and they can't replicate the problem or will not buy the hardware necessary to replicate.

BUT, the real bottom line, same Mac, same Audio interface, same OS, LP7 works with ZERO overloads, LP8 gets overloads. I honestly don't know how anyone could think this is not a problem with LP8? It's the ONLY thing different.

Boggles my mind this problem still exists even with all the latest updates...which usually indicates this issue is VERY difficult to reproduce which probably means it's a thread timing problem and those are difficult to diagnose even when you introduce trace code as the trace code itself introduce timing adjustments which can in turn prevent the problem from happening.

I'm disappointed the LP8 dev team have not solved this yet, but I do sympathize with the type of problem they're up against. And, even if they have discovered how to replicate in an environment they can work in to fix, then the solution could also be so deep in the core audio engine that any adjustments could require considerably more testing.

I'm not bashing Apple, because I feel they are still the best software company in the world. But the standard isn't high at Microsoft so not sure if that is saying too much.

As with others, I still have hopes they dev team will fix LP8 some day.

Hi fellow audiophiles,
Just chiming in here. I have had good luck with Logic pro 8 and native plugs - I believe my cpu overload issues come from my TC Powercore Express card. When running TC Powercore plugs I get major cpu overloads with just a handful of instances. I'm talking four or five plug ins. The entire session slows down or halts as it tries to sputter through the tasking on the system. My last system was a dual 1.25 G4 w/ 2gb of ram and I could run twenty-five plugins easily. I can't even call up old sessions that I mixed on my G4 with this new system (which is a quad xeon 2.66 w/ 9 gb of ram!). That ***** considering the thousands spent. BTW, I'm using DP 5.13 as well as Logic pro 8. The funny thing is - neither Apple nor TC Electronics will own up to the problem. That is very frustrating. I will have no choice but to return the card if there is not a fix soon. As we all know, clients don't wait around for updates.
