make audio "wind down" like a turntable turning off

is there anyway to do this in Logic? just have the end of an audio track slow down to nothing like if you slow down a record to stop with your hand.....thought it would be in pitch machine or something but you would need to keyframe something somewhere and can't seem to figure it out...

thanks

Logic doesn't have the Plug In you need. You could setup something in a sampler and program a glissando using Pitchbend but you should have a look at some Plug Ins if you're willing to spend some money for this:

this one is for free:

There actually are ways to do this in Logic without using the sampler or spending money on plugs or anything. Sometimes it just comes down to breaking down what you are trying to do and finding isolated functions that work together to get the task done.

I know you can do it because i just did it to a guitar part today. One way to do it is to analyze the track through Global Track's beatmapping, align the beat markers with the transients so that your audio is affected by tempo changes. The you can use the global tempo track and the pencil tool to write in multiple nodes and slow the track down over a certain period of time.

In order to get it to sound like its pitching down, stick Pitch Shifter II on the track, automate the bypass so that the plugin only comes on when you need it to, the automate the Cent and Semitone function to slowly work its way down. Its a bit of work but it gets you the effect you are looking for without having to spend any extra money.

You don't always need a specific plugin for everything.

You can probably do this in Logic with the plugins and functions available. But I doubt that it will sound as smooth and nice as slowing down a real record or tape recorder.

I´ve done this effect either by bouncing to tape (time-consuming) or by inserting an external sample delay pedal and playing around with the time parameter (great fun to actually "play" the speeding up and slowing down.)

iZotope Vinyl might not be the way to go, but I will check out other stuff mentioned in this thread. Thanks!

I'm thinking of this off the top of my head here, didn't actually try it.. Back in the analog tape days, I would do the equivalent of this with 2 inch tape..

Make a mix of the section you want to slow down..Say it's a one bar measure.. Mix that down to a stereo mix.. Then treat it as a sample - load it into EXS. Adjust the EXS pitchbend to something extremely radical.... Trigger sample at say measure 49. Adjust the level of the EXS track, carefully, and then solo that track, (mute whole mix) at precisely the same time You should be able to get a completely seemless transition, between the whole Logic track, and the single EXS instrument..

You could also program a radical tempo shift, (to offset or exergerate the falling pitch of sample being pitchbended) either when mixing down the sample to be used or while playing it from the EXS, perhaps through in a programmed high, or low pass filter too..

Tell me if this works.... good luck...
