LOGIC PRO and Pro Fire Lightbridge

I am trying to transfer 24 tracks of ADAT (16 bit) masters to into logic pro 8. I am having a problem with the M-Audio Pro Fire Lightbridge. I have sync with the PFLB and the ADAT. When i create tracks in LOGIC I have audio input from the PFLB but when I record it and play it back in Itunes or use the headphone jack on the PFLB all I hear is clicking noises. I suspect the PFLB is defective but can anybody help me out just to make sure I have my Logic settings correct?

Hey there,

I don't think your lightbridge is defective. I have every similar symptoms as you on Logic 8.01, OSX 10.5.2 and a Mac Pro. I have a lightbridge clocked to an Apogee Rosetta 800 via WC and it all looks like it's synced, but when I enable input monitoring on a track or record, it's all digital clicking noises.

I have tried EXACTLY the same setup with Logic Pro 8 on my G5 Dual 2.5 and it all works perfectly. Are you on a Mac Pro? It might be the OS 10.5.2, or the M-Audio Firewire drivers or the Mac Pro. I'm going to try the lightbridge and Logic on Tiger 10.4.11 on my Mac Pro tonight...

You have to slave the PFLB.
Use Word Clock Cable and select Word Clock from the
Clock option on the interface software.
OR
Skip the Word CLock if you dont have a cable and just set the
clock source to ADAT LightPipe or whatever they call it
in the Software CP.
For the most part if you have this set up then
it sounds like MAudio has some issues with their interface.
For the Apogee, I would just buy the FW option card.
Works nice.

I had similar issues with my lightbridge. Here's a few things to try.

First, Do Not install the Beta drivers (1.8.3.x) . If you have, Uninstall them. I couldn't get it to work at all, especially if it needed to sync.

Download the 1.8.2 drivers from M-Audio. Power off and unplug the lightbridge. Install the drivers, then shutdown the computer. Connect the lightbridge and power it up, then power up the mac. I'm running OS X 10.5.2 on a macbook pro, and once I went back to the 1.8.2 drivers, everything worked again.

Also, I find the lightbridge to be very touchy if other Firwire Devices are running, especially audio interfaces. My advice, be sure that the only FW device plugged in is the Lightbridge. You might get away with a drive if you need it, but I tend to turn mine off.
