Need old version of Safari--Where can I find it?

I downloaded the new safari 3 today not realizing that my computer could not run it. I did not see the 10.4 requirement. I run 10.3.9. It allowed me to install the program but when I click on the icon nothing happens. Obviously it overwrote the previous Safari.

I have tried to download 1.3.1 update and it will not work "You cannot install this software on this volume. THis system cannot use this software."

I tried 2.0.1 but it requires 10.4.2

Do I have to uninstall the new safari 3 somehow first? If so how would I do that? Then where do I find a version that I can run? I had no problems before.

Thank you.

EMac, Mac OS X (10.3.x)

Have now also replaced new bookmark.plist found in Library under Safari with old bookmark.plist saved to desktop and now I also have my old bookmarks back!!!! Not sure if this version of safari found under http://michelf.com/projects/multi-safari/ is different to the versions found directly under apple but it appears to have done the trick in so far as safari is concerned.

So this is how I finally solved the problem!

I went out and bought Leopard. For C$129. I can't be bothered any further.

But wait. After installing it, Safari still did not work.

I set out to software update, repair permissions, restart, still didn't work.

SO again software update, repair permissions, restart. Still did not work.

Read some more discussions. ONe guy said it worked on other users, so I checked my wife's side of the computer. WEll, it worked!

Tried my son's. It worked!

Tried mine--the administrator. No go.

REad some more. One guy said try opening from finder not the dock.

That worked. Took the icon off the dock. And pt it back and now they all work.

I am marking this one solved!

Unfortunately, likely only for me and my upgrade, not the rest of you.

THe rest who I do appreciate very much for all of your help to try and solve this.

You are right I installed by mistake! have fixed safari by installing an older version with associated webkit (as noted above), which resulted in a working safari, however mail and software update still don't work 😟

Someone on one of the streams that I should try reinstalling webkit.framework from the install disk...but I don't have the webkit.framework listed under my install disk so not sure where to go from here....is there an equivalent file that needs to be reinstalled???

Thanks for your help!
