Printing too Dark

It may be since Aperture 2.0, but possibly since installing Leopard (and even with 1.5), I can't get my monitor brightness and print brightness to match. I have been using an Eye-One Photo to calibrate my monitor (30" ACD) and my printer (Epson R1800). Before Leopard, this worked quite well. Now not at all.

I try to adjust brightness on the monitor according to the spectrophotometer and the Eye-One Match software, but the prints come out way dark. I even lower the monitor's brightness to the minimum, and my prints are still way too dark. This all worked fine with Tiger.

Can anyone suggest where I can look to address this problem?

SAME HERE. I have been relegated to creating largest JPGs, then printing them from my Vista PC. How crazy ios that?

Aplle has been no help.. just shrugs.

Printer is na HP Photosmart C5180.

Ah. Apple support just conformed their engineers are looking at problems printing to HP printers. So I am not crazy after all...

It is getting to me too. No new drivers for me, alas.

I have now not printed for 6 weeks. Except from Vista, which handles it all beautifully. Very annoying.

Do you guys use the right paper profile when you soft proof? Anyways, not that this is helpful, but I always print from CS3 anyways. I just know it better and feel more comfortable with it.

None available for your Epson or HP printers?

Hmmm... what model? They have tons of profiles on their sites. Epson's site is a chore to navigate, but everything's there.

I don't understand. With two Epson printers, alone, I have 45 different Color Sync Profile choices in Aperture's Print Image dialogue?

There are no profiles for an HP1280 that I can find.

I cannot find ICC profiles for any printers or papers on canons site.

But where from? Canon's driver for my printer (Pixma IP5200) was last updated in Aug 2007

Can I use the Guten-Print (exGIMP) drivers will these work better?
