P1i - fail

P1i - fail

Got my brand-new P1i (cos iphone is sim locked...) and syncing from the mb fails (haven't tried the G5 yet). Has anyone had this problem? Could it be a space issue? How to know?

G5 PowerMac 2 GHz, MacBook 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.4.11), iPods, airports, problems etc.

OK, it's getting worse: I can't even connect to the phone anymore.

[P1i] Connection to the phone failed.
Please make sure that your phone is turned on. If this error occurs again, please restart your phone.
Device "P1i" synchronization failed

Obviously I did that, several times, the bluetooth icon appears with the double arrow and then the second arrow goes off.

Hi, I am actually in the process of purchasing a P1i and want to synchronize it with my MacBook running under 10.5.2...

SonyEricsson tells me that there is a plugin available on their homepage for iSync. This plugin is necessary for synchronizing!

Hope this works for you - then it might work for me too. Please let me know if this works. Thanks

Hi, I got that plugin, otherwise iSync doesn't see the phone at all. Isync is failing on both my macbook and G5, but I don't have 10.5 yet, still on Tiger. I can send files to the phone (that's how I got my contacts across) but haven't yet tried to receive any: next step.

Let me now if yours works with Leopard pls.

I did succeed in making some syncronization earlier (when I used Tiger) but since I am now using Leopard it doesnt seem to work at all. I seem to get the same message as you do all the time - the connection ends very quickly. At the same time I can sync my T650i.

If somebody gets this to work I really want to know how?

Hi Peter,

You're going through the pain that us fellow P1i / Leopard users have felt for the past six months.

There's some good discussion on the Esato forum but basically nothing available today for syncing your P1i with Leopard, see:

The good news is that Markspace are developing a syncing program which should be avilable in the
coming few weeks, see:

Meanwhile Apple & SE seem to have their heads buried in the sand on this issue......

I have syncing working perfectly.

You need to ensure that power saving mode is turned off on the phone. I also seem to recall that I needed to pair from the phone, rather than from the computer. You will also need to ensure that the computer has the appropriate privileges on the phone.

appropriate privileges: what are you referring to, and where can that be checked?

I can download and upload using bluetooth file transfer, it's when I try to iSync that it fails.
