Dashboard won't launch!!!!

OK. Just upgraded to 10.5 (from Tiger 10.4.11). Installed all the updates, so now at 10.5.2. Great! Got Office running, plus loads of other bits and bobs. Last job, sort out my Dashboard.

So, I try to launch it from the dock and it doesn't.
I try from Apps .... and it doesn't.
I try by launching one of my widgets and.... it doesn't.

Frak! Just got everything else working and my very very last job implodes! Dashboard appears to be dead? It will not launch.

Help please!

No - hopefully you are on the path to success. Just get Disk Utility to repair permissions, get a nice cup of tea while it runs, and then log out when it finishes. On login.. you will be able to see if it has made a difference?

And after repairing permissions, I would suggest running it again to be sure that any secondary issues that pop up after the first repair are also repaired.

Heavy Sigh!

All permissions verified. Hard disk Green.

BUT STILL NO DASHBOARD!!!!!!!!!

It will not launch.

And yes, I tried launching a widget. But zilch.

Each time the dock relaunches as before. No change.

After all this, are you still missing the two plist files?
If they are still missing, I wonder if you used someone else's if that would work?
The system is supposed to create or recreate missing plists.

Yes, the plists are still missing.

Use someone elses's? Hmmm. Don't you think a reinstall is quicker and easier? I know it pains to bite that bullet, admitting defeat, but what else can we do?

Well, looks like we ground to a collective halt on this. So I went for the re-install and now everything is working.

Well, if you are going to reinstall, why not copy someone else's plists first? You have nothing to lose.
They are only 4k each and easily emailable.
