Missing Fonts In Distiller v7.0

Question

Missing Fonts In Distiller v7.0

I saved a quark page as an eps and dropped it on to Adobe distiller to create a pdf file but the font "Techno" always comes up as missing and is replaced with courier. The font "Techno" is in the fonts folder within the Classic System folder. This font location is also in the distiller font location. I am running OSX 10.4.2. Has anybody got any ideas how to make distiller recognise this font??

Since Distiller and Quark are not Apple products you might to post your question on the Quark and Adobe discussion boards.

Gareth, Welcome to Apple Discussions!

I have a few questions:
1. Do you use Classic when you're creating pdf's?

2. If you are in Tiger when you're trying to make pdf's
I would recommend putting "Techno" in the Library>Fonts fonts.

3. Are you running Font Book, or another Font Manager?

Hi, Thanks for replying!

1. No I dont use classic when creating pdf's. I use Distiller v7.0 which runs on OSX.

2. I will try putting "Techno" in the Library>Fonts - Have you heard of many problems like this?

3. I am using Suitcase as my font manager. This should be ok??

It seems to me that if "Techo" is somewhere where OSX can find it and it is enabled in Suitcase, you should be fine. Therefore, my suggestion about the Library>Fonts, or even the Users>Library>Fonts.

The font "Techno" is now in Library>Fonts, User>Library>Fonts, Classic System Folder>Fonts and is also visible in Suitcase. Still when trying to distill an eps file, the font comes up as missing!!! I really cant think what the problem can be.

I did a test on my mac at work today and the same problem happens there!

HELP!!!

Sorry, I know this is silly, but it IS activated, isn't it?
Can you get information on that font?
The type of font it is, and the year it was made?

The font is visible in Suitcase when looking at fonts for the User, Local, System and Classic. Should I try to make a copy of the font and actually add it through suitcase instead of placing it in all fonts folders? I just placed the font in OSX System Folder>Fonts and it still hasnt worked. It is just a standard font which comes with the mac. Its called Techno, a Font Suitcase created 15 September 2000. When I view the file info it also states the version as: 3.5, 2000 Mac OS Z-9.2.2. Copyright: The font bureau.

Its really weird that I did exactly the same test at work today and the same problem occurred.

Gareth,
In my font manager, I have the choice to turn each font "off" and "on."
Most of them I keep "Off" except when I need them.

I realize you can see it in Suitcase.
My question Is is your Techno turned "On" or "Off?"
In other words, Is it Activated or Deactivated?

EDIT: Now it is duplicated in too many folders.
That may also be a problem. If I were you, I would put it in your Users>YourName>Library>Fonts folder.

If I view them as fonts located in the various fonts folders in Suitcase, I cant activate or de-activate them. But I have added it and activated it now. The same error still happens. Ok I now only have in my users>myname>library>fonts folder. When I view all fonts now in Suitcase it has my user icon next to it. When I highlight the font in suitcase, the program hangs showing me the beachball.
Im going to re-start the mac as when I re-start suitcase, the same thing keeps happening.
