Broken Pipe Error

Broken Pipe Error

Downloaded and tried to install Streamclip but I get an error. "The following disk images failed to mount" "MPEG Streamclip1.9.1 Broken pipe" is this a problem with the download or is something wrong with my system?

Have a G5, OS X 10.4.11, 1.8 GHz PowerPC
1 GB DDR SDRAM

G5, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Well, it's meant to be the first thing you mention, but can be the OS misbehaving.

Do these two things & reboot if you haven't...

Using Disk Utility in Mac OS X 10.4.3 or later to verify or repair disks...

Followed your advice, no permissions needed repair and the disk passed verification. Then rebooted and tried to reinstall Streamclip. Got same error. Tried to install Itunes to see if other downloads worked and got broken pipe error for that.

Then I think part of your OS is munged, outside of having a backup, then I think an Archive and Install feature...

Had to reinstall the whole wonderful deal. After that everything loaded fine.

Great news, but by the whole deal do you mean an Archive & Install, or an Erase & Install?

I erased. I had already tried the diskwarrior and that seemed to fix it according to disk utility. But I still encountered problems so I just started over. I am new to this so I don't really understand the point of having an archive of the hard drive that wasn't working. If you feel like explaining it that would be fantastic.

The Archive & Install only replaces the OS, which is what we thought was messed up, it saves other 3rd party stuff you may have installed, your mail, your pictures, etc.
