Plantronics 520 not working?

I was able to pair the plantronics voyager 520 and it is showing that my iphone recognizes it. However, when I make or receive a call I hear nothing out of the headset, and the iphone gives me no option to use the headset. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Were you able to pair your Plantronic 520? I bought mine a few weeks ago, had a terrible time trying to pair it (not successful), went to their website and found that it lists it as not compatible with the iPhone. Now this is off their website! The 520 has amazing reviews in the Apple store of people who love it so I am very confused. I would love this headset because it fits so nice.

Anyone out there able to pair their Plantronic 520??

I have a Plantronics Voyager 510. I have no trouble pairing, but actual use is often problematic. This is a headset that pairs with my MacBook Air and works with Skype flawlessly. All I can suggest is unpairing and re-pairing; that works sometimes. But, this is very intermittent.

For anyone listening in from Apple, I swear that headset operation get much dodgier when I moved from my PowerBook G4 and OS X 10.4 to my MacBook Air and OS X 10.5. Maybe it's a coincidence, but there you have it.

my plantronics headset wouldn't pair with the 3G after being fine with the original, (not exactly sure what model mine is) but I eventually got these instructions off the web: http://www.iphonefreak.com/2008/02/plantronics-voy.html

turn off bluetooth on the iphone
turn off the headset
turn on bluetooth on the iphone
hold down the power button on the headset until the light flashes blue-red continuously.

the headset will pair on the phone and then challenge you for a code. Use 0000 (four zeros)

and it works! Amazing. (I was blaming Apple...) Now if only the GPS could be solved, I'd be happy. I haven't seen a single blue dot to date!

Anyway I hope this helps someone out there. J

I have been researching the same issue for weeks. I found this answer on Plantronics site.

"At the current time, certain models of the Apple iPhone are unable to transmit voicemail messages to some Bluetooth devices. Apple is currently working on a software fix to resolve these issues. First generation Apple iPhones with 2.0 or 2.0.2 software and iPhone 3Gs are known to be affected.

A release date for a software solution has not yet been announced, but Apple has confirmed the issue and assures customers that a resolution is on the way. For more information, please feel free to contact Apple directly."

Hi Michael,
Have you had any luck improving the voice quality when using the 520 headset with your Macbook Air?

I am trying to get the 520 headset to work with my MBP running 10.5.4, either I get no audio or the quality I hear is terrible and the audio I send just sounds like clicks of keyboard keys tapping away. (I have been calling my voice mail and leaving messages to test the headset.)

Any tips or help are greatly appreciated.

Thanks, ben
