This Device Has Expired - iPhone Dev

Same problems here, the phone is a total brick and the updates that it claims it needs are not present. However I am still able to receive phone calls.

the way i see it... i need a place to communicate my thoughts with other developers. Until they "apple" offer a secure iphone paid developer program forum in the iphone dev portal.. this is the place.

I don't have a problem with the expiration either, as I believe we were warned in the terms of use and documentation, but it would be nice and less frustrating if there was a new download available that we could replace it with.

This is the first time such a development program has been done with apple, where signed code was needed for development... I guess they're still working out the kinks... We're not as much using Beta software, but beta testing the entire workflow for them. heh.

Just updated to the Standard Developer package and spent the last half hour confused about how the latest build was expired. Not the best start...:(

Apple Technical Support had never heard of "expired." I applied the new OS twice, same result. I couldn't even do (with Apple Tech Support) Force change via iTunes.

Any luck?

I was able to download the new SDK, but without the new OS I think we may be stuck in brick world.

How were you able to downgrade to 1.1.4?

I thought that wasn't possible...

I've downgraded a second touch to 1.1.4 using this method:

1. turn it off - press and hold "sleep" (red slider)
2. connect to USB and run iTunes
3. press both Sleep and Home buttons for 10 seconds
4. release Sleep and keep pressing Home for another 10 seconds then release
5. iTunes recognize iPod in restore mode, install 1.1.4 (Or earlier)

No idea what this will affect on an iPhone - whether calling will be possible or what... but it works for iPod Touches.

I also did this downgrade before PSOD, so not sure if it works now.

I recall being part of the Windows 95 beta program ... I don't know what you mean but that software definitely rendered my hardware useless most of the time 😉
