Hello Apple ..... our phones do not work today. Pick screen, slide for emergency, not good as a phone or as a development machine.

sigh

I took one of my iPhone's by my local Apple Store at lunch and they swapped me out with a new one. I was unable to rollback to any other version and got all kinds of error trying to restore to 1.1.4. I didn't notice any "expiration" error either.

Later in the day I realized beta 3 of the firmware released. I installed that version and all is well now; except for the latest SDK breaking my build.

I downloaded the new OS image 5A240d and restored my iphone from xcode yet it still says :

This device is expired. Please install a newer version of the OS.

I tried again and same result - finally I got the idea to try pluging it into my original itunes (the one I used to set it up, running tiger, initially before it became my dev test device, on my leopard box) and that seemed to have fixed it; though itunes is now sync'ing my phone and calling it "untitled playlist" which is a bit scary ... but ... hopefully it'll work

Thank God for this thread. I was working on my app on Monday evening and ready to test Tuesday morning, but got the "emergency mode" screen. I thought I had broken something. Given my development iPhone is also the one I use on a day-to-day basis I've been without voice/data for the past 24 hours. I feel so disconnected!

So I got the new iPhone OS downloaded (3rd beta version) last night and tried to install this morning. No luck. I've been unsuccessful restoring in iTunes as well. I'm hoping that since I have the second version of the SDK this is my problem, but we'll see. I'm off to download the 3rd version, which at the current download speed should take 12 hours 🙂

Let me also mention that I'm on a PPC and had the whole build and deployment process working beautifully until yesterday morning. I fear the $2,500 investment that may be coming if I can't get this working! Anyone else developing with the 2nd or 3rd version of the SDK on their PowerBook?
