MBA11.00BB.B03 Firmware Update

Don't know your experience, but this update did not install on my MBA. My Boot ROM still ends in .B00 rather than .B03.

My MBA did not update when I used the Software Update from the Apple menu. I went to the Apple site and downloaded the file and it updated without issue. Make sure you read all the screen prompts so you know what to expect when rebooting after the update. You will get the apple logo and a meter that tells you the update's progress. Don't rush anything...just let it happen.

Now, my iMac did not update as the update told me that the computer did not need the update (it is a first gen intel iMac Core Duo)

I just updated from the Apple menu and it worked fine! Just follow the prompts.

Everything went well for me and my Air. I don't notice any difference in performance, although Safari & Mail both seemed to be a bit slower the first time I loaded them after the update. Since then, everything is working as well as usual.

Hi., I tried the firware update and followed the onscreen prompts - plugged in to the power, clicked shut down and pressed the power button after that.

When I powered up, the computer just beeps 3 times repeatedly.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Is there something I have missed as I can't power the computer up past the beeping stage.

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with the Firmware update. On the Apple support website, they offer a downloadable Firmware Restoration CD here: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/firmwarerestorationcd16.html

It also tells you how to restore your Mac if anything goes wrong with the update. Hope that helps. Please let us know how it turns out.

The link has been broken for an entire day. Quite unusual! I'm not installing until we know what's in this firmware update. I want to know what the update does before installing it. My MBA works just fine now (no core shutdowns etc.) except for the annoying keyboard lighting issue, which apparently this does not solve. If it ain't broken, don't fix it...

So far, it seems that the firmware update fixed the core shut down issue when the CPU becomes too hot. I've done a couple of CPU stress test and saw that the CPU temperature now goes up to 81°C without any impact on the usability to my MBA. Well, let's hope that it's now fixed. Tomorrow will show when I start using my MBA for work again.

My installation is successful. But the trackpad is not very responsive after this. Now it is very hard to move the cursor and unintensional left click always happens.

Anyone has the same problem?

thanks for your reply - i didn't have any luck with the restoration cd:
1. it doesn't support MBA
2. the cd can't be inserted in to the plug in superdrive because the computer is not powering up.

I rang support and working through they said it was an issue with the RAM. So this will be the second time i'm returning my MBA.

Same here..

This firmware update was advised me again today, so I installed it apparently ok, restarted, and the firmware has not changed. I had a look on the Software pages, but there is only a version 1 from 11th April. Could that be it?

My Air does not update although it says so after running the update.
Still no answer from Apple.
