Using A Projector: Why it mirrors only part of my screen?

I am trying to play an iPhoto slide show on my G5 monitor and on the LCD projector for the first time. The projector displays my desktop image, but little else. I can open other applications and view them on my monitor where everything looks fine, but the projector does not mirror the application -- it only mirrors the desktop image and little else. It does not show the slideshow when it plays. I'm on my way to a presentation in the morning and really need to get this figured out. Any suggestions? Thanks!

It sounds to me like you are not mirroring the display but using the projector as a second separate display.

Check in System Preferences/Displays to see how it is configured. I would give you more details on what to check but I'm sans second display while I'm working on the road so my System Preferences doesn't show options for additional displays.

Shane, I agree with Michael, it sounds like you have extended your desktop rather than enabled mirroring.

Here's how to enable mirroring:

Open System Preferences > Displays, then click on the "Arrangement" tab and in the bottom-left you'll see a checkbox called "Mirror Displays".

Thanks, folks. That did the trick. I just overlooked the check box for "mirror displays."
