Ink - chinese character recognition?

Hi,
I want to get a tablet/pen for doing chinese input by "writing" because my mum doesn't know English and I would like to teach her to use emails in Chinese. The easiest way for her to input Chinese is probably by "writing". I have checked apple osx page but it doesn't say if Inkwell could do Chinese.

Can Inkwell do it?
Or do I need a 3rd party software to do that?
Also which tablet would be suitable for my need (many seen online are for graphics use)?

Thanks.

I don't know the answer, but you could look it up yourself: I can't read chinese. You can access the Ink preference pane without tablet. Let me elaborate, what you could do is
* Change the language to chinese in the International preference pane.
* quit System Preferences
* open the Ink preference pane. Without a tablet it is a bit tricky. Navigate to /System/Library/Preference Panes/ and open Ink.prefPane. If this does not give you the Ink preferenc pane, navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/ and open ink.menu. This will give you the Ink menu extra that, in turn will give you access to the Ink preference pane.
* Once there, the preference pane should be in chinese. The language tab should give you information on what language is recognized.
* Don't forget to revert to your original language by, again, going to the insternational preference pane...

Inkwell can probably not do it. According to http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/inkwell/ it "also works with French and German", and that probably means that it doesn't work with anything else.

There recently was a discussion about Handwriting Recognition on the Chinese Mac mailing list http://groups.yahoo.com/group/chinese-mac/ . As far as I remember the outcome was that there currently is nothing available for MacOS X. You can search that URL for "handwriting" to read the details.
