Ink (Inkwell) in Japanese?

I searched the forum and found basically that Ink (well) doesn't work with Chinese. Does this apply to Japanese? My powerbooks HD crapped out and I'm getting a new mac soon. I've never had a tablet thingy so I didn't even know ink existed until my girlfriend (who's Japanese) asked about being able to write the rare unused kanji she doesn't remember how to type. Anyway, Ink is advertised on the Japanese site, but is there anyone out there that knows (I'm sorry I'm too lazy to search the Japanese forums).

Ink only works with Latin script, in fact most likely only English, French, and German, since that's what it says on the page:

http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/inkwell/

I don't know whether PenPower works with Japanese:

or whether there might be some equivalent product available in Japan.

Thanks Tom. That's what I feared. I even went to that page on the Japanese site and it says there too that it'll only do those three languages. As I currently don't have a working mac, I can't try that program out, but will at my first chance.
On a side not to anyone else searching about this, I went on to the Japanese discussions page and asked and the response I got was that it's not possible to do that with any default mac software and that basically you have to buy ATOK or ELGO or such.
