Burning CDs but No Title appears: Answer not found in other posts

Hi All,

I am hoping you can help me. I have been trying to burn CDs from my itunes. The songs burn successfully; however, the names of the tracks do not appear. I don't understand as title appear correctly in my itunes library.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,

Make sure this is checked:

Preferences -> Advanced -> Burning -> Include CD Text.

Hope this helps!

I am having the same problem. Weird, I think its in my CD burner. I can burn CD's at the office and the title appears on the CD and my daughters laptop will also list the songs and he artist. At home the titles will not show. I have checked "Include CD Text" and have been on Apple support several times. I don't know if it is something in my settings or the burner. Please help.

Also, I am trying to load songs from my Itunes library to my wife's car system. I have tried USB, Data CD's, and my Ipod. Is it possible to load music from Itunes?

Interesting point, Chris. The answer is: I dunno. I've using an iMac (Tiger) with OEM CD burner and iTunes (latest and 'greatest') and the "include CD text" is checked. The resultant CDs show the song titles et al only on the individual machine.

To be sure, I've tested with latest gen iMac (24", Leopard) and an intel MacBook. All to no avail.

How would one go about determining whether one has a Burner capable of conveying textual information?

BTW, I tried your "burn, select songs, upload to gracenotes" suggestion from another thread: it doesn't work. I am asked to manually enter info like song title, etc, which is not helpful for 12 songs selected as a whole, nor is it what I want to do for 12 songs individually.

I want iTunes to do what it says it will: include CD text.

Seems as if iTunes will write CD-TEXT but won't (always/most/some of the time?) read it.
This script -> CD Text to CD Info v1.2 will read the CD-TEXT and copy it to the ID3 tags in iTunes.

I tried your "burn, select songs, upload to gracenotes" suggestion from another thread: it doesn't work.

Did you try to download the info immediatley? Sometime it takes bit (hours) to get into the database?
I've ever had a problem getting the info after submitting it.

Then let us, perhaps, clarify how you go about submitting your data.

Because when I selected (from the newly burned CD) the list of tracks and chose "Advanced" > "Submit CD Track Names", I was presented with the opportunity to enter the information by hand.

It was not pulled from the CD for me. It wasn't merely uploaded the same way it is downloaded. How are you getting this list of tracks uploaded?

Put songs into a playlist.
Make sure the info is correct.
Burn the CD.

When it is finished, it will mount in iTunes.
Select the CD on the left side of iTunes.
Menu Advanced -> Submit CD track names.
In the CD info box pops up, fill in as much info as possible.
The Album name will be the name of the playlists.
If there are songs from more than one artist, the Artist field will be blank.
Put something such as Various and tick Compilation.

Click Submit.
