Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.1.2 Installation failed.

I am running Adobe reader 8.1.2 with Leopard 10.5.2 + all other updates, with no problems.
I probably had it installed before 10.5.2, but I am not sure. Whenever the Adobe update was available, I installed it.

I have Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.1.2 installed on both my MBP and my PM Quad without any problems.

Adobe is dated May 2007, so I installed it under Tiger.
The date in my Leopard install is the same as under Tiger - I just checked.
To answer the OP's question, does it still install? I really can't answer that one.

Hi Nerowolfe;

I help both a relative and a friend with two brand new iMacs. Both are running 10.5.2 but an old outdated version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. I upgrade both of them to 8.1.2 without any problems.

The iMac I helped my friend with came with 10.5 and I upgraded to 10.5.2 first thing. It was only then that I discovered that Reader was out-dated so I upgraded it without any problems at all.

My Adobe was installed when this MBP was a Tiger.
Are you installing Adobe from scratch? Or updating an earlier version?
It may be that updating a previous version works but installing from scratch fails - I don't know.
If you do have an earlier version, you might try removing it completely before installing the new version.

I tried installing Acrobat Reader 8.2.1 from scratch (failed), since I didn't have one installed prior. I had settled for the older version 7.x for now. Btw! upgrading from 7.x failed as well. So, I think there's an issue with the Acrobat Reader 8.2.1 installer, it breaks @ 1/3 way. I'll wait for a little while and see if Adobe push out a newer version, hopefully soon.

I have a thought. See if you can install it in the Safe mode. It may be a conflict with a driver or app that is disabled in the Safe mode, which might allow you to install it.
You might also contact Abode and tell them about the situation. The version I have, 8.1.2 is their latest version and it's dated last May, so it's almost a year old.

I note you refer to Adobe 8.2.1. I assume that a typo.

Thanks. That means it's something else, not a direct Leopard/Adobe compatibility issue.
No doubt some other software or permissions issue.
