USB-Serial Adapter freezes MacBook

Hi,
Need help with connecting a Palm to my MacBook running Bootcamp with Windows XP2.

My old Palm only has serial port and I tried to use a Belkin USB-Serial adapter to connect.

Plug in the adapter and everything is fine. Serial port shows up in Device Manager. But as soon as I plug in the Palm and start the application, the MacBook would freeze totally. Only way to get out is power down.

I tried a few different devices connecting to the serial port and concluded that anytime the device tries to send data via the port, the MacBook freezes.

Anyone knows what to do next?

thanks!

I had the same issue using a Belkin USB-to-Serial F5U409 model adapter. I had been using a driver dated March 25, 2002 and had problems. After a couple of searches, I found a solution by downloading an updated driver for XP via Google.

Here is the link: http://www.belkin.com/support/article/?lid=en&pid=F5U409&aid=5368&scid=1

These drivers are dated 4/4/07 and work just fine with my F5U409. What model are you using?
