Software Update error -1001

Hello,

I am having a problem as Software update shows the following error:

A networking error has occurred: timed out (-1001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again.

My internet is working fine. I have tried trashing prefs, turning ethernet port on/off. I was using Airport connect to a Linksys wireless gateway WAG54G. I then solely used ethernet and it still wouldn't work. I have since manually downloaded 10.4.3 and Software Update still won't work. I really don't know what to do next. I know that I can just go and manually download the needed updates and forget about SU but it's just so useful and I don't want to give it up. Please help.
