vlc videos?

hey there,
i just started to work with imovie, so call me newbie.
my question is: i have a couple of movies, where i only can hear the sound but no picture. so i got the vlc player to watch my full movies without any problems.
the thing is, that i can't play any of these movies in imovie? or is there another way to get them played there?

greetz,

iMovie is no 'all purpose' editor, it is meant for camera imports, therefore supports only a few codecs..

use the VLC 'Export Wizzard' to convert your files into 'dv-stream' ..
or any other 'all purpose' converter as VisualHub, QTpro etc...

you'll notice a (dramatic) loss in pic quality, due to the nature of your original files, which use a 'playback codec'..

They will be in an uneditable format and will need to be converted for use with imovie 08. Never use VLC but I believe you can use it to transcode the file to h264, no idea how good it is at this, prefer mpegstreamclip myself but you will need the QT mpeg2 playback component for mpegstreamclip to work with mpeg2.

Mmmm too slow

for German support, try macuser.de, biggest German speaking Mac Community..
VLC is self-explainatory.. imho.
but offers only transcoding to playback-codecs as h263. h264 or mjpeg..
follow advice given by Winston or try swiss-army-knife VisualHub ..
