How does your Mighty Mouse "squeaks"?

Hi kids,
My mighty mouse squeaks like a box spring in a cheap motel. It's very annoying and the more I use it the worse it gets. It is really loud, my associate can hear it in the next office. I really like the mouse, this defect was clearly overlooked. Recall???

I started using my Mighty Mouse yesterday. I stopped using my Mighty Mouse yesterday. The squeak is more than annoying. It makes an otherwise very cool mouse completely useless. I think the cheap motel/bedspring analogy is completely accurate. Imagine trying to get any serious work done with that going on. Very unfortunate that after all these years of waiting for Apple to come out with a two-button scroll mouse the result is so thoroughly disappointing. I've switched back to my trusty old Logitech mouse. Sad day indeed.

Try the following: flip MM over; place thumb over serial number at bottom of base; push hard. This completely eliminated the squeaking from my MM.

Thanks for the tip - when I did this I heard a small 'pop' like something being snapped back in place & the squeaks are gone!

My mouse stopped the squeaking and I am hooked on it now. Funny how I turned off the right click after using it. Just seemed easier not to worry about where to press. I even disabled the side buttons because sometimes when scrolling down I would accidentally press the sides. Didn't use it anyway.

The best thing is the scrolling and now to me NOT having the right button.

I found that when I squeezed the mouse quite hard on the side buttons it then stopped or lessened. I also did what you suggested (push hard on the serial #).

So far, for the last hour, no squeaks.

Yay! Excellent solution! We just brought our Might Mouse home and it was "bed spring squeaky"... Just horrible. I hit these forums and did the "squeeze serial number" solution. The squeak is gone!
