Can avi and flv video files be imported into ipod nano (4gb new) and to ipo

iPod Nano 4gb new

Can "avi" video and Flash video "flv" files be imported into iPod 30gb classic and to Nano 4gb (new version)? I tried importing by I get error message saying the files are not compatible.

NEC, Windows XP

iPod video must be in .MP4, .M4V or .MOV. The screen resolution in 3G iPod nano is 320 kbps and the screen width is 320 pixels.

You can import the video into iTunes (if QuickTime can read the file, so can iTunes) and then go to Advanced > Convert Selection for iPod/iPhone.

If QT isn't able to read the file, you'll need a converter.

Hello Everyone

I am responding to my own question for the benefit of others as I have found the answer.

I was able to find the right freeware to convert non iPod compatible video files into iPod. It is called Videora iPod Converter. I tried it already and it works quite well.

I tried importing my movie files to iTunes, but it doesn't seem to be working... I used both the IMPORT and ADD TO LIBRARY options, but it doesn't do anything. The movie plays fine in QuickTime, so I don't really understand the problem. It's an AVI file that I'm working with... and I have a DivX converter or something that may be what is allowing me to play it in QT... but anyway, if you can help me out on this, I'd greatly appreciate it,
