Video related Kernel Panic

In the last week or so, my iMac G5 has been experiencing kernel panics when I wake it up in the morning.

It only seems to happen after several hours of sleep, and not if it's been asleep for just a couple of hours. Sometimes it will KP again on restart.

The KP is always accompanied by video distortion. Sometimes it happens immediately, and sometimes after a few seconds. This morning I was able to read a short e-mail message before it happened.

The Apple Hardware Test reports no hardware problems after both the basic and extended tests.

Yesterday, I did a full erase and reinstall of the OS. No luck. It happened again this morning.

I'd be very thankful for any suggestions as to what I should do at this point.

Here's the panic log, which seems to confirm that it's a video problem:

Guys, i have the same problem on an Imac flat panel 15".
I started having problems since 10.3, now with 10.4 they are just ridiculous. I have a couple of computers like this in my office, but this is the only one experiencing the problem.
I will tell you more, since the 10.4 upgrade (tiger) all of my sistems are behaving strangely with the screen (like try to move a folder and part of the icon doesn't move...). And I have all original equipment...

Here are the details of the machine that is driving me nut with a panic crash every 20 minutes almost!!!

xserve Mac OS X (10.4.3)

How goes it? I've only just begun receiving this error.

I am on a Dual 2.5 G5 with 8GB RAM, a NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL (w/256MB) running 10.4.5.
We use the machine for a number of high end apps, including Final Cut 5, Maya 7, Realflow, etc. The crash occurs when orbiting within Maya.

I upgraded to 10.4.5 a couple days ago and it has run fine even when working with complex scenes in Maya. This morning I just try to do some simple modelling with Maya and it stops updating video like its not receiving an input from the mouse... it would stall for 3-10 seconds a couple times, and then kernel panic.

I know it could be a number of things but I thought I'd add in my situation for anyone who might benefit from it.

like many mentioned here i have a kp with "video"suspects. i would post the panic log but it has essentially been posted with everyone elses posts. NOW when i upgraded to tiger i had issues with my maxtor external driver. updated now that is fine.

when i updated to 10.4.1 i started getting random kp listing the graphics card as the issue. AND since apple wouldnt let(my poor dialup self) save my downloaded software updates as i go it took me a LONG time to get the software updates 10.4.2...5(i actually had to get them from my father's comp) that ostensibly included driver update support for my(STOCK) nvidia gefocre 2 mx video card. and for 4 days after i upgraded it worked perfectly. then KP all over again. i was SO hopeful that a driver update would work!

i have tried resetting the pram, starting in single user mode and doing the fysk command thingy, ran diskwarrior(tiger) and techtool(tiger) and run the included utility program. they ALL say everything is fine. i ran the diagonistics on loop 4 or 5 times(all i had time for) and all checked out well. all my periferals are disconnected(which since my music files are all on external makes my computer VERY much unenjoyable and pointless!) and still kp(i am infact suprised that i have been able to post this message so far!) i have noticed my graphics seem to be loading a bit slower. kps dont seem to happen with any ONE program running and sometimes they are preceeded by a 10 second or so freeze frame then kp. other times no warning.

I am willing to get a new graphics card if it is really the problem tho i dont even know if i can GET the same video card(new) since i am muchly UN-tech savy i am not sure what other card i should get.
but the coincidence seems amazing unless tiger actually attacks and kills nvidia cards upon installation? oh and apple has been sent reports.
