Podcasts "missing" from iTunes

This problem has been occurring for the last several versions of iTunes. On a weekly basis, some of the podcasts that are downloaded to my computer go "missing". Before you click on the podcast to listen to it, everything looks fine. The unread flag is on, the podcast info and description are there. If you click on it to listen, iTunes say that the file cannot be found. Do I want to locate it? I have searched and it is nowhere on the pc.

FYI, I do not allow iTunes to automatically delete any podcasts. I have that feature turned off.

Anyone else having this problem? It is very annoying!

Same problem running vista ultimate - its a real pain.

"FYI - you can re-download a "lost" podcast by unsubscribing, then resubscribing to that podcast (using "Unsubscribe" buttons), and then click refresh. Then iTunes will go out and download anything you're missing."

That doesn't always work though, since a few podcasts only keep a few of the latest episodes downloadable (the high bitrate version of Off the Wall and Off the Hook only keep the 2 latest episodes online, and I've lost several of my old episodes of those).
