I've consulted 2 studio professionals and still no solution. I'm getting a random beeping sound while I record with my mic. To clarify, its not the buzz of a bad cable, but a beep that seems to change pitch as I adjust the buffer size. I've determined its not my recording environment, my mic, or my interface. So it must be Logic Pro 8 or my MacBook Pro. Is it possible that this has to do with RAM? What else could be the problem?
I had the same problem with one of the interfaces that I was using. I was recording with an m-audio profire. It would beep, and I could change the beeping while changing the buffer size. I quit logic and opened up pro tools, and the same problem occurred. That ruled out a Logic issue.
I contacted m-audio, and they said that the problem was software related. And that sounds like a good answer considering that the driver for the device is a beta version for 10.5.2.
I borrowed a 828mkII and it worked right the first time. No beeping or popping.
I signed up for a mac account just because I wanted to say thanks so much. Have been having the same problem and nobody at Mac has been able to figure it out... I turned off my airport and I'm not getting the beeping anymore! (or not nearly as much. it used to be loud beeping every 5 seconds... and now it is really quiet beeps every minute or so... still a problem, but it is getting better). Anything else you did to make it go away completely?
For what it's worth, this happens in FCP when audio can't play real time and needs rendering.
It makes the application trigger an alert (beeping) while the audio is buffering.
