Unable to connect to CDDB server

I purchased an 80g ipod classic. Began transferring my cd's into the library today. The first 100 or so worked fine. Now, when I insert cd, error message comes up that "Unable to connect to CDDB server". This is happening now with all new cd's I insert.

My connection is fine. Internet/email operating without problems. Itunes store connects with no problem. I have closed, re-opened itunes, re-booted system, re-installed i-tunes and nothing is working. Any suggestions, because this *****!

Just purchased an 80 GB ipod, upgrading from a straight mp3 player. Just as I started to load my CD collection, the GraceNote CDDB server won't connect.

I've checked all firewall settings, tried the gracenote patch mentioned in this forum, nothing fixes the problem, but ALL other internet related functionality is fine.

I do NOT believe the problem lies with iTunes, my other system, Creative Labs, cannot connect to the Gracenote CDDB server either( it has never failed in the past few years). Looks like Gracenote is the culprit.

All worked until April 24th.

I'm having the same problem as other people in this post--have been happily uploading CDs to my iPod Classic for the past 7 weeks, but today, couldn't get iTunes (or to be more accurate, Gracenote) to identify the CDs I wanted to add. I downloaded the patch that was recommended and nothing changed. It's got to be some sort of failure by Gracenote, with so many people having the same problem--hope it gets resolved ASAP!

I have to chime in too....all of a sudden this morning, no track or album information is available from CDDB. Says I have no internet connection, but the troubleshooter says I do, and I can also access the iTunes store. Did the Gracenotes patch. Rebooted. Could their system be down? Any other ideas. If I reinstall iTunes, will I lose all my stuff? (probably a stupid quesiton, but I am a newbie)

Well folks it's been 19+ hours that I cannot connect to the CDDB server and I'm about at the point of getting rid of my ipod and itunes and anything having to do with apple. I bought my 1st ipod in september of 2007 and had all my 600+ cds copied to it -all was well in the world until the computor i had my music on crashed and then the ipod craped out. All apple could do is replace the P.O.S. ipod (at the cost of $35 shipping) then left the task of redownloading all 600+ cds on my laptop. So here i am about 3/4 the way done downloading and i can't get the rest of my cds downlowed b/c of this CDDB server problem now. I say I've got about 1K invested in the whole apple/ipod/itunes deal, and i've had it. I've talked to a lot people and none i mean NONE have ever had anything good to say about any apple product ie: ipod/iphone/itunes.... it's all junk. I'ts a good concept but they just don't have the technoligy to stand behind there products. This new/replacement 80gig ipod is about to go in the trash. OH yea FYI if you buy a new ipod buy it from sam's club (whitch i didn't) they will take it back no questions asked for a year.

My brother convinced me that an iPod would be better than satellite radio for my new car, so he took me tonight to get an 80 gig classic. Haven't even hooked the ipod up yet, so that's not the problem. He uses XP and says he has never had a problem, but he's spent the whole night manually inputting my album info for me. Funny that it will download the album art after he does that. Tried both cd drives on the computer and all the online fixes we could find but no luck. Bet he wishes he'd kept his mouth shut and let me get the satellite radio, but all I heard was how great the ipod was.
