Hey guys. you know alot of stuff.. and really i dont know what to get for a microphone. BUT! i found this Rode M3 microphone ( http://www.tomleemusic.ca/main/recording.cfm?details=1&id=163&inv=127010# ) but i dont know if it works with a Canon GL2 could you look and tell me if it works with a GL2
MacBook Pro 17',
External Hard Drive, FCS2, Aperture, Logic Express 7
If your GL2 has balanced mic inputs, that mic will work. Keep in mind that the M3 also requires power. But the real question would be: what are you wanting to record? Is it the right mic for the job?
Ok i think your finally someone who will help! so reply to this. lol anyway i am lookign to use it for like News Station that ill be putting on youtube.. and some news stuff outside askign peopel so id liek it to be wireless and it looks liek the M3 is. also what kind of inputs do i need? i havew a mic input and a Advanced Accesary Shoe. woudl the m3 be able to go wirelss and somehow plug in something in the cameras in one of the two spots. also would i have to buy the thign seperate? sorry for the long paragrapgh lol thanks
PS i am also looking at a Nady 151Vr which looks like it may work.. its my back up if the M3 doesnt work.. i rather have the M3 if it can go wirless and ocnnects to my GL2
The M3 is not wireless ... I'm not sure why you thought it was. In fact, Rode doesn't make any wireless mic systems.
However, you can turn just about any balanced mic into a wireless mic by using on of the available snap-on transmitters such as these:

Wow. This is very complicated haha :P so could you send me some links to some microphones that can go wireless on my GL2 and under $200 either can go wirless right away or comes with a transmitter thing to make it wireless. I would like a cool looking one since im using this in videos. If you want a bit of what im looking for look at LisaNova on youtube and go to anyone of her interviews and look at the microphone. Somethign like that would be good. Anyway hopefully you can help
Would you say this is a good quality microphone for outdoors and indoors again ill use LisaNova who is famous youtuber i want it to work like the one she has. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/3659-REG/AzdenWMS_PRO_WMS_PRO_VHF_WirelessLavalier.html so this could go wireless and it would work on my Canon GL2 just by plugging in the box things there and it would work. outdoor, indoor and pick up my voice.
Oh and also if you could just send me what you think would be the best for me that would work and is wireless. that would be nice. Because really, This is very confusing. ive been searching for days and theres TONS of differnt mics and i cant choose and wow. lol. easier if someone just says here is the best one(PERIOD)
There isn't a system under $200.00 that I could recommend ... maybe if you had a bigger budget ... say around $550.00. That could get you a Sennheiser Evolution Series G2 100.
Since you're on a limited budget, I'd recommend purchasing a wireless (or wired) mic locally. That way, if it doesn't perform well you could return it easily.
