Can't receive calls when I'm on Internet

I can't receive calls when I'm on either Youtube or safari. At least this is what I have checked so far. When people call when I'm online, they don't even get the voicemail. What must be wrong?

When actively accessing the internet when connected via EDGE - with actively being the key word - downloading a website, downloading or sending email, or downloading a youtube video when a call is received, it will likely go straight to voicemail. This is an EDGE limitation. The same does not, or should not apply when actively accessing the internet via wi-fi.

That is totally wrong, b/c am able to receive as much calls as i want while am on internet (edge) i dont have any problems with that issue, so u better go to the apple store or something just to double chek ur iphone, the only problem seems to be while ur on a call and at the same time trying to use the edge or email. That feature is not working yet with the edge.

Stay tuned: Others will chime in here soon--> Basilon is mistaken. The iPhone (currently) is simply not able to receive calls while actively on the internet via the edge network. The call will go directly to voice mail in that scenario.

Allan's post is correct (you can take take his posts to the bank ;)).

Basilon might have experienced a call come through when he was looking at a page that already downloaded (Don't even know if that's possible.)

*Your calls Not even going to voice mail (OP) is a problem. It should do that.*

A small correction. It is AT&T's network that is not capable of handling both data and calls at the same time. EDGE has 2 modes, one supports simultaneous use, the other does not. If used on a network that supports the other mode the iPhone very well could work.

However, "simultaneous" means that. If you are viewing a page that you have downloaded but are not currently transferring data you will still get phone calls.

It has NOTHING to do with the type of Edge network. A few of my friends were convinced that they received calls and that my phone was bad but when I asked them to go on youtube and while they were trying to load a video, I called and they relized and were kind of shocked not to receive a call.

You can't receive a call when you are actively on Internet...meaning if a page is being downloaded on your phone, you can't receive a call.

I am hesitant to go online now on my phone. It's a huge drawback!
