usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstops failed

My ethernet connected HP 2280 nt will not print!
It acts like it's going to - the que shows the file going to the printer and then it stops.
usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstops failed - is the dialog displayed.
I tried from Powerbook on same same network with the same no go results.
deleted and added the printer still no go

Sure would be nice if things worked..........

Suggestions?

I also reset the printer with same results - no go

Resetting the printing system
If you can’t print to your printer and you’ve tried all other solutions, reset the printing system. This process deletes all printers from your Printer list, deletes information about all completed print jobs, and deletes all printer presets.

To reset the printing system:

Try all other troubleshooting techniques.

If you can’t print to a printer

Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Print & Fax.

Hold down the Control key as you click in the Printer list, and choose “Reset printing system” from the pop-up menu that appears.

Add the printers you use.

Both my HP and Brother networked printers stopped working with the same problem.

I was able to get them working by using Disk Utility to "Repair Disk Permissions" on the hard drive, after loading the most recent HP driver for my Color Laserjet 2605dn. I still need to try the Brother.

I don't believe it had anything to do with Audio Hijack Pro.
