Unable to connect to wi-fi

Just got an I pod touch, and want to connect it to my wifi connection - have a netcomm NB5plus4W wireless router connected to a pc running xp. I do the following
go Settings - wi-fi is (not connected) click that - where it says choose a network, there are two options, my home network and "other...". my home one is locked, and so i click the arrow to expand into that one. i then get a page with "ip address" DHCP, BootP, Static. and under that, ip address, subnet mask, router, DNS, search domains, client ID, (information can seem to only be entered in to DNS, search domains and client ID fields) and below that ... HTTP proxy, off, manual, auto.

Can someone tell me how to configure this? Would be much appreciated. I've spent hours and much frustration to no avail.

PC, Windows XP

Problem has been sorted. I switched off the firewall on the computer, reset the network settings on the itouch, re-entered the password and it all connected. I've turned the computers firewall back on and it still lets me connect. Now if I can just find somewhere outside of home I can test it . .. .

I am having a very similar problem, however i am using a peer-to-peer wireless network with no router... None of the suggestions here (and from several other websites) have worked. The two computers i have are a pc and macbook pro... My DSL service is attached to the pc with my macbook pro accessing the internet through a wireless connection.....

I have a similar problem, However:
I previously WAS able to connect my iTouch to either of my two routers (one is configured as an access point with no DHP) I no longer anm able to connect to either router if ANY router encryption is used (WEP,WAP, or WAP2) if I take encryption off, I can connect to my network throung either the router of Access Point. I have made sure that the passwords are entered carefully and correctly.
I have even tried to hardcode ip addresses dns servers etc but to no avail
Somehow I think some kind of Hard reBoot for the iTouch might help (all the other components of my network were rebooted.
I can access my network with encryption turned on from my laptops.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Just an addendum From TopGun41
I have turned encryption on, and am attempting to connect to my network.
My iTouch is now in a loop. It attempts to attach to the network, gets a check mark for one of the network routers, the "lock" icon disappears, Next the check mark disappears, then the "lock" icon reappears. At no time do I get actual access to the network and when I press the router line, I get the "unable to join the Network" message. When I press OK, it returns to the loop that I described above.
