Which ever is cheapest at the moment. They are both great deals. They both come with the same warranty.

On an amusing note, I have signed up the wrong college for the Edu discount program. I havn't started my class yet and I got the wrong one down...oh well better then driving to the wrong one.
I found the best deal for me was to get it on amazon.com. I didn't have to pay for shipping or pay tax. I'm not sure exactly how much the educational discount is, but I think the educational discount might still make it cost more after tax.
The edu. discount seems to change depending on purchase, the fancier the setup, the more the discount.
Apple's wa y of trying to encourage larger purchases no doubt.
Does amazon have the year long warrenty apple has?.
Is the price significanly better?

I just looked into this for the basic 1.25GHz mini. Apple store with Ed Discount 479.-, Amazon.com: 479.-. Both free shipping. Apple will add state taxes, Amazon apparently not - that's the difference in the end. I believe that the warranty is the same for both.
There is (or was last week) a refurb version of the 1.25 GHz mini that after Ed discount ended up at 427.- but that one only had a 256 RAM stick vs, the current standard 512 if you buy it new. Since Tiger seems to really need 512 that option would require buying an extra 512 stick which just about brings it back up to 479.- even if you crack the case and put in the stick yourself.
For what its worth, I went with the Ed discount at the Apple store after I read a few recent posts on these boards where people received scratched and banged up minis from Amazon. I'm very happy with it so far.

What's a better deal, refubished or EDU discount?
