Replacing the MBP back/display case
(1) Does anyone know how to remove the backcase? I've done some searching and everything I've come across is for opening up the top/bottom case (where the computer itself resides). Has anyone come across an illustrated step by step tutorial? If not, any instructions would be very appreciated. I'm capable of disassembling/assembling things, I'm just hesitant to work on an apple product blindly. Also, does my revision of the MBP affect the disassembly process? See my next question.
(2) This is the item that I want to purchase and replace with: http://www.powerbookmedic.com/Back-Case-w--Apple-Logo-MacBook-Pro-p-16972.html . On that website, I noticed that the MBP they were referring to is older than mine. After emailing their techsupport/sales, someone claimed that their case wouldn't fit on my MBP, since my MBP is newer (Rev. E to be exact, based on the classification at http://guides.macrumors.com/MacBook_Pro ). Can anyone confirm this? Is my Rev.E compatible with other Revs at all? Which ones? Apple is still modifying something like the backcase? These MBPs have been out for a while now...
(3) If the backcase powermedic is offering won't work, does anyone know of any other sources? It seems that ifixit doesn't even have this item ( http://www.ifixit.com/Products/MacBook-Pro-15-Inch-2-4-GHz-Case-Components/16/11 0 ), and macservice has it for $195 yikes! ( http://www.macservice.com/macbookpro.html ), and they say that it may not fit some MBPs.
Thanks!
MacBook Pro 15" 2.4GHz (Rev. E), Mac OS X (10.5.2)
