Leopard Parental Controls causes no connection to iTunes Store

I upgraded my family iMac to 10.5.2 and set up my two girls' accounts with Parental Controls...only to find that neither of them could get to the iTunes Store any more! It just sits forever with the "Accessing iTunes Store" and the barberpole progress bar.

The only thing that I have activated in Parental Controls are the time fences: everything else is wide open.

If I disable Parental Controls for either account, then the iTunes Store works perfectly. Re-enable Parental Controls and iTunes Store is inaccessible again. It's totally reproducible here. The Parental Controls in iTunes are all turned off on these accounts.

Is anyone else seing this? Any possible solutions for my kids being able to use the iTunes Store with Leopard's Parental Controls on?

Various, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

This problem doesn't appear to be limited to Macs. I'm running WinXP with Yahoo's parental controls and I'm experiencing the exact same problems with my son's account.

Really disappointing that this problem appears to have been around since at least May and it's almost November. You'd think with all of the complaints that they have received that they could have this resolved by now.

This is a major issue for me. Most websites where you log in, as well as iTunes DO NOT WORK with parental controls enabled. and there are no hopes of my dad disabling them.

After digging around the interwebs, it seems *apple has identified the problem, yet didn't offer a fix.*

The problem is that secure socket https:// what-ever-the-heck-they-are-called websites DO NOT WORK because the parental controls CAN NOT filter them when they are secure, and when it trys it can't connect to the filter...y server thing.

This is what I made of the article I read. Accuracy is unknown.

I'm running a MacBook Pro with 10.5.6 and parental controls seems to work correctly. However, on my Dual PowerPC G4 Tower running 10.5.6, if I even enable parental controls, it cuts off all internet access. Might be a processor-specific issue. I just got my MacPro Dual Quad Core Desktop, also running 10.5.6 and haven't tried parental controls yet. An exercise for tomorrow.
