Letters on some of my keys are fading away !

Hi

My MBP 17 Keyboard is only 9 months old and letters on the keys are allready fading,

I am guessing from the heat and use that the keys i use the most (A, E, N, O) are now almost unreadable, like they turned into some dark sport and i barely make out what they are.

Anyone else experiencing this?

MacBook Pro 17" Hi Res/ 2.4GHz/2X2GB/160HD, Macbook Black, iMac 20" C2Duos, Mac OS X (10.5.1), AirTunes, BT Mouse & keys, iPod V, Nano, HP1500, LG 32" LCD

Just to ask the obvious question - have you tried cleaning the keyboard? The MBP key letters aren't "painted" on, they are translucent plastic to allow the keyboard backlight through. As such, they cant "rub off".

Ok people, in Spain i called to deal with this problem.

At first they tried arguing with the proof of purchase, me paying for the call, yes they do not have a toll free number in Spain., seems that the fines companies pay for not abiding to provide a free toll free help number is less then giving up the money they make ripping customers off with the crime.

long story short, i and the store i got the macbook pro from sorted that out the next day since i found the email from apple un acceptable., after all that they told me they do not cover this in Spain, try the U.S., even said the policy is that APPLE IS SUPPOSED TO COVER THIS world wide, yet they said in Spain Apple sees the same issue as a minor problem., its what im told by the girl on the phone and a apple care store they provided me with the address and number for!

Hows that legal?

I had the same thing happen to my old PBG4. Twice. On both occasions, the entire keyboard was replaced under AppleCare, while I waited (and watched); a 30 minute task for a trained tech. But that takes developing a very close working relationship with your AASP....

P.S. And judging from the shiny look of some of the keys on my 2-month-old MBP, this exercise will probably have to be repeated before the year will be out.

I am in spain and they refuse to replace the keyboard here even though they are supposed to cover this world wide and have been in the US of A., i only owned this 2800->€<- ( $ 4,374.72 ) 10 months.

They took 2 weeks to solve my proof of purchased, i emailed the proof and photos of the keyboard the same day i called, there first email said my receipts did not match the date the computer was purchased which was (BLANK!) and that was all!

Later i called the store i got it from and told them to deal with it since they had pre ordered this computer been a hi res MBP 17 inch and i waited a month and when i got it it was the wrong configuration so they posted the receipts till later in September 2007 instead of August, which would still be covered anyway.

The things Apple does OUTSIDE the US are un believable., remind you that i work for a US firm which purchased over 3000 computers over the last 2 years.
