ATI HD 26000 XT Crossfire Interconnect Cable

I have two ATI HD 2600 XT video cards in my new 2.8GHz Mac Pro (2008). Do I need a Crossfire Interconnect Cable to take advantage of Crossfire? Does the Mac do Crossfire? My system did not come with the cards connected with this cable.

Any help is appreciated.

MacPro 8-Core, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

Hi Warren,

currently neither ATI Crossfire nor NVIDIA SLI is supported on Mac Pros due to the fact, that the logic board does not support them.

Therefor no cable.

So does this mean that the extra video card that I have does not assist the main card in any way? When I purchased the system, I believed that having multiple cards would provide better performance. I suspect that the extra card is only good for an extra monitor if what you are saying is correct.

Hi Warren,

yes, additional graphics card only serve for getting additional displays connected.
No extra performance from them (at least at the moment).

Maybe Apple chaanges that on day.
