I'm using this USB hub with a PC and my iMac. Software works great on both, but in the last couple days, the software on my iMac announces that a required driver (SXUPTP.kext) is missing--and it crashes. Yet, the driver sits there in my System/Extensions folder. I've removed all third-party software that I've ever installed, starting with any that I recently put in. Any ideas? Still waiting on Belkin's response. I've re-installed the Belkin software several times, both as an Upgrade/Repair and after a full uninstall. Makes me wish I'd bought an Airport Extreme (assuming I could use a USB hub on the single USB port).
Oh, man. I have rebooted my iMac more this week than I have in the 2 years I've owned it. It's no PC, but I was hoping this reboot cycle (along with multiple uninstalls and re-installs) would fix it. I've also repaired permissions both with Disk Utility and OnyX. It may be a Belkin problem (software update gone wrong, or something) but I was hoping someone with more Mac smarts than me would know how to root out any traces of the program so that I can be confident I'm doing a full, clean install. I'm about to return the Network Hub and buy an Airport Extreme, as I alluded to earlier. Mac stuff just works, even with PC's. I can't say the same for the other opposite.
I assume it has the latest Firmware, and that it's been reset?
True some uninstallers don't uninsta everything, and the next time you try to install, it thinks it is already & quits, I assume that kext was not there after an uninstall?
Correct. I'm also able to get the install program to recognize that it's not doing an upgrade. Belkin has responded by pointing me to an install package (?) I can download from their UK site, oddly enough. Maybe that will work, but I have my doubts.
And...it did not work. I am returning my Belkin Network USB Hub. Maybe I can re-post to the forum with a question (or more likely a compliment) after I receive my Airport Extreme Gigabit Base Station. Thanks for your assistance.
I had the same problem. What I did was reboot my mac into Safe mode and manually load the SXUPTP.kext. After manually loading the kext, the Belkin app worked.
So I ran the kextstat command while in Safe mode and rebooted into normal mode and compared the kextstat output from safe mode to normal mode.
Luckily after I uninstalled the first app I tried the problem was solved. Not sure if the app would be the same on your machine, but the conflict on mine was TeleStream DriveIn software. Once I removed DriveIn software as well as their kext and rebooted the problem was fixed with the Belkin software.
This is exactly what happened to me. After uninstalling the Network Hub software and restarting, I uninstalled Drive-In using the directions detailed on the Flip4Mac site. This included removing the IODVDImage.kext file and restarting.
Thanks for the detailed explanation of how you resolved the problem. Other documentation of this problem on the web is non-existent, and I would have been lost without it.
