iCal invitation won't add because email address is not on "me" card.

Okay, I'm at a loss. I'm trying to add an invitation to iCal, but when I do I get the following response:

Someone invited you to an event using an email address that isn’t on your “me” card in Address Book. Find your email address in the following list and add it to your card in Address Book.

Here's the problem: my email address is on my "me" card. I have tried the following resolutions:

1. Exported a vcard to the desktop, deleted all the addresses, and imported the vcard back into Address Book
2. Reassigned "my card" to the card with the email address in question
3. Restarted my laptop

I'm still getting the same error. Oy.

Any suggestions/solutions?

Macbook 2.0Ghz, Mac OS X (10.4.11), 3GB RAM

I've just started getting this too. I have a new invitation in my notifications. When I click on it, I get the same alert as slowriter. But there's no "list" to find an e-mail address on, so I don't know what I need to add to my "me" card. I can't tell who the invitation is from, so the only option I have is to clear it...and then it returns a couple days later.

I got same problem. I installed YAI and it didn't fix it.

Ditto. Most of my problematic invites appear to come from MeetingMaker V8.6 (aka PeopleCube - is that Dilbertesque, or what?).

Hi, i am experiencing the same issue. I have been for a long time.
invites come from different sources. next to that, not all invites apear in ical. (comming from internal exchange server. )
hope someone has the solution.

last invite I got was mentioning the email adres

Dragging the invitation to the desktop and double clicking it there worked for me (invitation was added to calendar).

That trick didn't work for me. Perhaps difference related to the OS (I'm running 10.4.11)

When I am sent an invitation, the following error is produced by iCal:

"Someone invited you to an event using an email address that isn’t on your “me” card in Address Book. Find your email address in the following list and add it to your card in Address Book."

The email address used is the one on my "me" card.

It looks as if the problem is that the invitation has been sent out to a list and iCal appears to be unable to handle invitations that are sent to a list of addresses.

Is there any way to switch off this additional processing, so I can receive ICS invitations that have been sent to a list of email addresses?
