Error Reading Configuration -6722

Here's my problem... I just purchased, setup and installed my new Airport Express 802.11n. It's up and running BUT..... I can no longer read the configuration file via the Airport Utility (v.5.3.1). I'll select my AE (v. 7.3.1), click on Manual Setup and after waiting 5+ minutes, I get "An error occurred while reading the configuration. blah blah blah error code -6722.

My MacBook Pro is running 10.5.2 with all the updates. I can access my Time Capsule (v. 7.3.1) and my older AE 802.11g (v. 6.3) using the Airport Utility. I just can no longer access my AE 802.11n. I also tried accessing it from my older G4 iMac 400Mhz running 10.4.11 with all the updates. I get the same error. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I just updated to Airport Utility 5.3.2 in the hope it would fix the problem of no access and control of the Apple Extreme modem and.... it still doesn't let me in! Only via my girlfriends PC in the house running Windows. I kind of was rather hoping but....no. So since the base station can be accessed (albeit via a PC) and configured this rules out the unit itself actually being faulty....

I am surprised no one has come forward with a suggestion. I don't see many others with the same issue. Anybody....

I have the same error code -6753.

I can't configure my base station but it does work, in that i can use the internet.

I had been have problems with my base station, it was failing to send out a range of IP and was sharing a public IP- i couldn't stream radio, my TV couldn't find the local network. So after some mindless fiddling with settings I managed to inspire this error.

The airport utility shows a yellow light, but the base station show a green light. Yet another weird symptom of a depressed and confused base station. I plan to do nothing a hope the problem goes away.

Dear Weasel6227 or to whom it may concern,

I have bought a new express station (802.11n capable) in order to extend my network coverage to the whole appartment.
setup: New Airport Express station works as modem and network setup-device. Old Airport Express is connected to that network.

I configured that new device ad all seemed to work except:
Then it happened:
I was prompted immediately for the firmware update 7.3.2, and clicked update...
After endless waiting got error -6722 and update failed-message. Tried that update a few times (prompted-button-waiting-error).
Then set up that base station and the old one as connection to the network.
Everything went fine, but then couldn't connect to my new base station anymore.
Internet still worked, extension still worked, but no ways to access my new AX.
Every time, when trying to update or when pressing manual or when trying to access via setup assistant, got a loooong run into time out and -6722 error.

I could not find any suitable solutions, hard reset also did not work. After pressing 15 seconds began flashing orange, then released pin, ten restart, then back to green light (?!?)... strange

After some phone calls with friends and expert friends I actually got really sore and gave it one hard reset after the other, also unplugging that Express station from power in between for a while.
SUCCESS, it showed up original configuration neatly restored after 3 or 4 hard resets.

As I assumed that all those previous firmware update failures had something to do with it, I now directly connected via Ethernet cable to my new AX station.
Now, run that update, not via Menu/look for updates, but via "Manual configuration"- button, then when seeing base station, press "update..."-button there.

It worked, then, not before, configured my new airport express, then the old one to extend the network, DONE.
Now everything is fine. Both base stations are looked up properly and can be accessed.

Hope this helps someone ?

Best regards

Max

I just installed an Airport Extreme Base Station and having the same symptoms as you with the Airport Express. Things were going well at first, but in the middle of adding albums from a USB disk connected to the AEBS, the shared volumes disconnected all of a sudden. I attempted to remount the drives but after a VERY long time with the spinning beach ball I get a message about not being able to connect possibly due to a password issue.

I attempted to go into Airport Utility (5.3.2) but while the AEBS shows up in the utility, any attempt to access the configuration freezes things up and after a few minutes I get the same -6722 "Error occurred while reading the configuration" message with suggestions for checking to make sure I am still connected to the network.

Read this entire thread, but still looking for a solution. Unplugging the AEBS and forcing it to restart solves the problem, but after some period of time I lose my network disks and the ability to get access to the AEBS. The internet continues to work and I have a solid green light.
