Iphone bottom row of icons not working

Having trouble with the slide to unlock - works sometimes and sometimes not. Once unlocked, icons on the bottom row will not work. No matter what application I'm in, the botoom of the touchscreen does not respond. I can not type a text, bottom row on calculator doesn't work, etc. I have tried reset.... Anyone know what's going on? I've had the phone almost a year and have had no probs till now.

If reset or restore doesn't clear the problem up, the next step would be to call AppleCare or make an appointment at the Genius Bar in an Apple Store.

Well if you have to restore it, it will erase everything. It does give you an option to save your contacts, but I'm not sure about the music. Once it is done restoring, it will put everything back on your phone. Since I never tried it from a different computer, I'm not sure if it will put your iTunes stuff back or if it will try to sync with the computer. That will just have to try it and find out. If it were me, I would rather lose my music than my phone.

Frieds aaccidently my iphone just slipped out of my hand and the first two rows are not at all working and i am not even able to power off it since it is in the first row . Can anyone help me out


Follow Tamara's instructions above. You may have a hardware issue with your touchscreen.

Hi Mac Medic,
I tried the restore.... didn't work. This is so dissapointing. I saw another post similar that says they dropped their phone. I did not drop my phone. I had it on the charger for an hour... picked it up and it didn't work. Lots of friends I know do lots of weird stuff with their iphones. Me... I truly love my phone... I follow the rules always keep it safe and dry, no jailbreaks...etc. Now what should I do?

Unfortunately, some people have been having problems with their touchscreens. There's nothing we can do to help you get it going if its hardware-related. Contact Apple and they will get you going again. User uploaded file
